PDT is an Eclipse extension project, designed for providing a PHP develop environment using Eclipse framework. It provides a PHP code editor (with syntax highlight, auto indent/outdent, dynamic syntax checking, function tree list, etc.) and PHP debugging mechanism (using Zend Debugger). For simplicity, please use the All-in-one setup file to install PDE (and Eclipse) environment.

It provides a web browser window (within Eclipse), so the developers can view PHP results without opening a new browser window.
